Believe it or not, 80 percent of BMW 1-series owners believe they are driving a front-wheel-drive car.

Given that today is March 22, I promise this is not an early April Fools' Day joke.

BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer shared the mind-boggling statistic during a call with analysts following the release of the company's 2009 financial results last week.

The comment came after an analyst asked whether the German automaker risked confusing customers with the addition of fwd BMWs to a lineup that features only rear-drive models.

Reithofer said he is not worried about making the change, but he did admit that the survey results on the 1-series came as ?quite a surprise? to BMW.

Customers obviously are not turned off by the thought of owning a front-drive BMW, which means the German premium brand has a good chance to succeed with its plan to sell up to 1 million fwd BMW and Mini brand cars by the middle of this decade.

In compenso ho visto un Rav 4 con le catene dietro :shock: :!:

Se Reithofer vuole giustificare la serie 0 a ta, non serve attaccarsi a questi sondaggi: hanno già dimostrato con il marchio Mini che sono in grado di spiegare come si fa una TA anche agli inventori della "traction" (da dove pensi nasca la DS3? 8) )

secondo me entro il 2020 (2018 dicevano) sarà cosi anche la 1er.

Se vogliono fare la serie 1 a TA.....forse sarebbe il caso di non aspettare fino al 2018....perchè il sondaggio che hanno fatto ha validità oggi...ma nel 2018 le cose cambieranno.
Potrebbe aumentare la percentuale di clientela fidelizzata, che è passata da un'A3 o una Golf alla Serie 1 sapendo ci comprare una TP.

Non sarebbe concepibile ad esempio per la serie 3 un passaggio alla trazione anteriore.
Per la serie 1 è diverso.

Teniamo poi presente che il sondaggio è globale e non riferito solo al mercato italiano.

Negli Stati Uniti la maggior parte delle auto è a trazione posteriore.

personalmente mi appassiona poco ,una mini marchiata bmw a me non serve....tutta roba che annacqua il brand (che non è un liquore da bere :evil: )

Se fosse davvero così lo stesso 90% girerebbe su vetture premium tetesche o svedesi.. e guardando le nostre strade non mi pare proprio.
