BMW benefits from confused 1-series owners

Believe it or not, 80 percent of BMW 1-series owners believe they are driving a front-wheel-drive car.

Given that today is March 22, I promise this is not an early April Fools' Day joke.

BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer shared the mind-boggling statistic during a call with analysts following the release of the company's 2009 financial results last week.

The comment came after an analyst asked whether the German automaker risked confusing customers with the addition of fwd BMWs to a lineup that features only rear-drive models.

Reithofer said he is not worried about making the change, but he did admit that the survey results on the 1-series came as ?quite a surprise? to BMW.

Customers obviously are not turned off by the thought of owning a front-drive BMW, which means the German premium brand has a good chance to succeed with its plan to sell up to 1 million fwd BMW and Mini brand cars by the middle of this decade.

Non ho mai visto una 1er con le catene davanti.
In compenso ho visto un Rav 4 con le catene dietro :shock: :!:

Se Reithofer vuole giustificare la serie 0 a ta, non serve attaccarsi a questi sondaggi: hanno già dimostrato con il marchio Mini che sono in grado di spiegare come si fa una TA anche agli inventori della "traction" (da dove pensi nasca la DS3? 8) )

Automotive News è affidabile, o sbaglio? Detto questo non mi sorprende questo sondaggio, visto chi compra mediamente le "compatte d'immagine"...questo senza nulla togliere alla interessante peculiarità di avere la trazione posteriore su una segmento C...

le notizie su internet girano spesso a casaccio.
autonews è credibile al 100% se riporta un link ufficiale ma in questo caso non lo fa.

è evidente che, eccetto taluni "maschioni" che frequentano questo forum, molti non hanno la benché minima idea delle ruote che girano sotto i propri sederi... sono convinto per esempio che il 95% delle gentil signore che ne hanno presa una, fanno parte di tale gruppo...

io penso che la notizia del sondaggio sia vera... magari la percentuale non sarà questa... ma la BMW sta tastando il terreno della TA... e comincia a mettere in giro delle notizie del genere...

Non so dire se il sondaggio sia "vero". Realisticamente però, va detto che, se fosse inventato, la cosa implicherebbe che Reithofer sapesse che le cose stanno all'opposto, e volesse inventare una bugia con cui "forzare"un mercato consapevole verso una soluzione sgradita. Sarebbe un po'stupido e pericoloso. Del resto, se una buona parte di clienti sono donne, beh... mia moglie sa che la sua B è TA perchè gliel'ho detto io... Viceversa, l'eslcusività della TP su una segmento C non è un primato della 1er: la vecchia serie 3 compact era già anch'essa l'unica - e pure la prima - con questa soluzione, eppure non andava. Per deduzione, diventa improbabile che il motivo del successo della 1er sia la TP da sola.

Quindi, se non è vero mi sa che sto sondaggio potrebbe essere verosimile. Bisogna vedere cosa se ne fanno.

Comunque...è tutta colpa delle passerine. Viva le passerine che hanno bisogno di aiuto per mettere le catene!!
