Comparing BYD to Honda is like comparing Cupra to BMW because they are essentially very similar.
Fair point, but I'd push back a little on that comparison. Cupra and BMW at least share a similar positioning within the VW Group ecosystem Cupra borrows a lot of platform and engineering DNA from VW/Audi, so there's a genuine technical lineage there, even if the badge and price point differ.
BYD and Honda are a different story completely separate companies, different engineering philosophies, different market history (Honda's been building cars for 70+ years, BYD started as a battery maker and pivoted into EVs comparatively recently). If anything, BYD's closer to how Tesla or a legacy EV-first brand operates than to a traditional ICE manufacturer like Honda.
Where I'd agree with you: both comparisons highlight a "value vs premium" perception gap Cupra is seen as the sportier/cheaper alternative to BMW, and BYD is increasingly seen as the value alternative in the EV space. So maybe the comparison works better on perception/positioning than on actual engineering or company history.
