Geely / Volvo

England's Financial Times newspaper recently had a chance to sit down with Freeman Shen, Geely's VP of International Operations, in Shanghai.
Geely is quite concerned with not tarnishing Volvo's image and will operate the brand as a completely separate entity from Geely's own automotive division.
In Shen's words: "We want to be careful not to damage the Volvo brand. We don't want the image of a luxury car made in a third world country. We want the image of a European luxury car, albeit owned by a Chinese owner."

Volvo will indeed expand and build plants in China, but for the Chinese market.
