The shape of the accelerator pedal will be reconfigured to address the risk of floor mat entrapment. For the Camry and Avalon models involved, the shape of the floor surface underneath will also be reconfigured to increase the space between the accelerator pedal and the floor.

Basically, any automaker?s floormats can slide forward if they?re not attached to a hook that keeps them in place. However, the Lexus and Toyota models in question include a hook that can be detached from the carpet, meaning there are two ways for the floormat to become dislodged. According to Hanson, the design stems from the fact that floormats are an option across the Toyota lineup, and someone buying a car without them wouldn?t want a fixed stem protruding from the carpet.
In pratica, i vecchi tappetini avevano un rischio che si sganciavano da soli, col rischio che scivolaveno in avanti. Il nuovo modello, che richiede un gancio più solido sulla moquette dell'auto non si sganciano più.

Risolto questo problema, si è presentato l'altro che abbiamo chiarito prima: La gente che mette un tappettino genreico sopra un tappetino normale. Anche se fossero due tappetini originali e conformi, mi spieghi come fa un gancio trattenere due tappetini?
Poi c'è stato il problema del presunto acceleratore colloso. Presunto perché si sospetta che l'acceleratore si possa incollare (diventare duro e non tornare a riposo) per via di un difetto di costruzione che ha indotto il richiamo di tutte le auto - proprio per togliere anche quel dubbio. Nota che la prius non è soggetta al richiamo dell'acceleratore incollato.
